An acquaintance had given me the contact details of an astrologer with whom he had just had a deeply positive, life-changing experience: a reading of his birth chart according to Vedic astrology. A few months later, it was my turn, and that reading changed my life. I’ll tell you all about it.

The essentials

Tropical astrology, the most common in the West, is based on the seasons.

Sidereal astrology, used in Vedic astrology (Jyotish), is based on the actual position of the constellations.

The two systems are offset by about 24°: so your sign can change.

My Vedic reading took place in four parts, from a portrait of my being to practical advice.

Tropical or Sidereal Astrology: What’s the Difference?

Tropical astrology and sidereal astrology are two ways of calculating the zodiac. They differ mainly in how astrological signs are placed.

Tropical Astrology, the most common in the West

Based on the seasons: it uses the spring equinox (0° Aries) as its starting point.

Fixed and symbolic: the signs are divided into 12 equal parts of 30°, regardless of the movement of the stars.

Used in modern Western astrology, it emphasizes psychology and personal growth.

The shift: with the precession of the equinoxes, the constellations no longer coincide with its signs.

Sidereal Astrology, used in Vedic Astrology

Based on actual constellations: it adjusts the signs according to the precession of the equinoxes.

Closer to astronomy: its signs correspond more closely to the current constellations.

Used in Vedic astrology (Jyotish) and in some branches of Western astrology.

An offset of about 24° from tropical astrology: so your sign can be different.

Example: if you are a Leo in tropical astrology (July 22 to August 23), you could be a Cancer in sidereal astrology, due to this shift of almost one sign.

In summary, tropical astrology is more psychological and symbolic, while sidereal astrology aims to be more astronomically precise and predictive. The signs we all know are based on the position of the stars over 2000 years ago: they no longer correspond to today’s sky.

My True Signs: The Surprise

Imagine my surprise, my disappointment, and even that feeling of betrayal when I discovered my signs according to the actual position of the stars at my birth. I bet you had the same look on your face as I did at that moment: a mix of astonishment and ‘wait… what?!’

So take a break. Look up your signs in sidereal astrology: the constellation where the Sun and Moon were on your birthday, your ascendant, and your descendant. You might be surprised, but this discovery can already bring you unexpected answers.

My Vedic Birth Chart Reading

In August 2020, I received the interpretation of my birth chart according to Vedic astrology. I had already consulted several astrologers in tropical astrology over the years. I’m not saying it’s worthless, far from it. But after this Vedic reading, all the analyses I received before, and even after, seemed incomplete, almost bland in comparison.

There was something deeper, more precise, and more authentic. As if, for the first time, I saw my true reflection in the stars, with the feeling that my soul was speaking directly to me, through the astrologer who was translating my celestial map. The reading took place in four parts.

1. A Portrait of My Embodied Self

The first part revealed who I am, according to the stars and celestial alignments at the moment of my birth. A fascinating reading to better understand my deeper nature and my dominant energies.

2. The Meaning of My Life

The second part revealed the deep intention of my soul in incarnating into this existence under the name Warren. I received crucial information about my life mission. More than explanations, these were true confirmations that illuminated my path with striking clarity.

3. Me and Time

The astrologer gave me precise time markers to understand my past, my present, and the major stages ahead. He traced key periods of my existence, from a little before my birth to the potential end of my incarnation. Each date mentioned corresponded to essential events or encounters. Even today, I remain fascinated: how can one read the invisible thread of our destiny with such precision?

4. Conclusion and Advice

The last part was a valuable synthesis, with concrete advice to stay aligned with my soul’s intention and move forward with more accuracy and serenity. My astrologer also indicated a stone in resonance with my soul, to wear for grounding.

It was a deeply transformative experience that changed my vision of myself and, above all, fully anchored and confirmed it.

An Exceptional Reading, Based on Free Donation

What makes this experience even more unique is that my astrologer only works by word-of-mouth. He also operates on the principle of free donation: after the session, each person gives the amount they feel is fair, according to what they received and what they can give. He has been accompanying me every year since for my annual chart, called a ‘solar return.’

I am convinced that other Vedic astrology practitioners are just as talented. Leona (Leona Reading), my ex-partner, has been studying with him since 2023 after training in other astrologies. She offers very revealing Vedic chart readings and integrates this practice into all her guidance. Don’t hesitate to contact her if you’re interested.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Vedic astrology and Western astrology?

Western astrology uses the tropical zodiac, based on the seasons. Vedic astrology uses the sidereal zodiac, based on the actual position of the constellations. The two are offset by about 24°.

Does my sign change in Vedic astrology?

It’s possible, due to the shift of almost one sign: a Leo in tropical astrology can, for example, be a Cancer in sidereal astrology.

And you, are you familiar with this astrology?
