Book review: Rue des Chamanes, shamanism initiation

Today I want to tell you about a book I absolutely loved: Rue des Chamanes, initiation à la pratique du chamanisme au cœur de la ville, by Pascal Martin and Romane Della Gaspera, published by Éditions Vega (Trédaniel group).

The essentials

  • A book co-written by a Parisian urban shaman and an author attuned to the invisible world.
  • An approach to universal shamanism, beyond any one particular culture.
  • The three worlds, allied spirits, power animals, rites, and healing.
  • Simple rituals you can practice every day, with minimal equipment.

A book written by two hands

This book was born from the collaboration between a Parisian urban shaman, who wanted to share his experiences and knowledge, and an author attuned to the invisible world. The back cover sums it up beautifully:

“The voice is Pascal’s, and the ink is Romane’s. The first tells the story, the second shapes it, arranges it, and guides it. One lays out the pebbles the other pulls from their pocket. A path opens; it’s up to you to write the rest.”

Rue des Chamanes

Discovering these words and this concept completely won me over, and I couldn’t wait to start reading.

What I loved about Rue des Chamanes

I loved its approach to universal shamanism: it doesn’t focus on the shamanism of one particular culture, but on practices found across cultures all over the world.

  • the three invisible worlds: the upper world, the middle world, and the lower world;
  • meeting allied spirits, including your power animal, with lovely explanations and many personal accounts;
  • rites of passage and shamanic healing;
  • shamanism’s relationship with nature and its history up to today;
  • rituals you can put into practice every day, with minimal equipment.

Who is this book for?

For anyone who wants to discover shamanism in a simple, accessible way, and start tasting this magnificent spirituality, even while living in the city.
