ShaktiPan
Andrea is the creator of Shaktipan.
His adventure begins in 2007, when he discovers a Hang for the first time and immediately falls in love with it. He is 22 years old and living in Australia.
For several years, Andrea tries to get his hands on this instrument, but it seems almost impossible. After extensive research, he discovers that there is only one maker in the world and the waiting list appears endless.
In 2011, he finally manages to acquire his first instrument: a Disco Armonico created by Marco Della Ratta. He finally holds his first sound sculpture in his hands and returns home filled with immense joy.
But Andrea wants to go further. He then decides to build his own instrument. Since childhood, he has loved inventing and making things. In 2012, he creates his very first handpan.
Andrea has always been self-taught and passionate about hands-on work. When he sets a goal, he does everything possible to achieve it, constantly seeking the best solutions. Determined to build this magnificent instrument, he begins studying every step of its construction. He researches materials, tools, hammers, and any information that might help him bring his project to life.
The beginnings are particularly difficult. Andrea works alone and doesn’t know where to turn for advice. So, even if it may seem strange, he asks the Divine Mother to help him create something exceptional. After several attempts, his instrument already begins to produce a pleasant sound in 2013.
He gives the instrument the name Shaktipan. Shakti represents the feminine power of creation, the vibrational energy at the origin of everything that exists and the force that helped Andrea bring his dream to life.
For many years, Andrea has been passionately dedicated to creating high-quality instruments, entirely handcrafted in Italy.
Along this journey, Eric, a trusted friend and collaborator, joins him. Together, they continue their research on new materials and refine their design and tuning methods. Their goal is to continuously improve the handcrafting process and ensure the complete satisfaction of each future owner of a Shaktipan.
Each handpan is entirely shaped by hand, making each instrument truly unique.
Today, Andrea is proud to say that his small dream has become reality. He hopes that his instruments will bring happiness to many people. For him, Shaktipan is a precious gift, for which he will always feel deep gratitude.
